Following is the application procedure for the second-year renewal of an IGERT fellowship.

All renewal applications will occur at one of four times: July 1, October 1, January 1, and April 1.

The correct renewal date for you is the one closest to at least three months prior to the date of your last expected IGERT stipend check. (If you are not sure when that is, please contact Beverley Walton at bwalton[at]cogsci.ucsd.edu.)

All applications must include the following:

- Two letters of recommendation (one is usually from your advisor, but could be your other IGERT advisor) and one of which must be from an individual who does not serve in an advisory capacity, but who is nonetheless familiar with your work. This could be a member of your Ph.D. committee.

- An essay describing your recent academic/research accomplishments while an IGERT fellow.(1-2 pages)

- An essay describing your current academic/research goals (and their relevance to the IGERT, but not necessarily limited to it) (1-2 pages). Please include a bibliography of papers you have published in the last year, which may include
papers under review.

Your academic record at UCSD will also be evaluated as part of the review process.

Your completed application should be sent to Beverley Walton electronically (preferred) (bwalton@cogsci.ucsd.edu), but hard copy through campus mail is also acceptable (mail code: 0515).

Applications for renewal will be reviewed shortly after the submission deadline, and you should receive the IGERT Committee's decision soon thereafter.
