· Summer Internship Incentive Program · As both an incentive for our trainees to seek out opportunities to do research off-campus during the summer, and to prevent "double-dipping" outside of the academic year, we have institued the following program. Trainees who participate in a summer internship that is outside of UCSD and at least six weeks long will have their stipends suspended July, August, and September. The suspended money will be tagged on to the end of the student's fellowship, which should coincide with an academic quarter. For that final quarter, the IGERT program will pay the student's academic fees (there lies the incentive!). (The definitions of "internship" can be varied, so please inquire to find out if your proposed internship quailifies for this program. Outside employment that does not qualify for this program may require special approval from NSF.) If you have arranged (or intend) to participate in a summer internship of at least six weeks, please notify Beverley Walton (bwalton[at]cogsci.ucsd.edu) no later than June 1.
