Minor Program

To receive a minor from the Department of Cognitive Science, student must complete an Undergraduate Declaration of Minor using the Major/Minor tool.  Student is required to complete a total of seven (4 unit) courses, five of which must be upper-division. All courses must be taken for letter grade, with at least a C- earned in each one.

Lower-Division: (select one from each group)

  1. Choose one of these courses:
    COGS 1: Introduction to Cognitive Science
    COGS 3: An Introduction to Computing
    COGS 10: Cognitive Consequences of Technology
    COGS 11: Introduction to Cognitive Science: Minds and Brains

  2. Choose one of these courses:
    COGS 14A: Introduction to Research Methods
    COGS 17: Neurobiology of Cognition
    CSE 7: Intro to Programming

Upper-Division:

  1. Choose one 3-course core sequence:
    COGS 101A-B-C: Cognitive Theory and Phenomena
    COGS 102A-B-C: Distributed Cognition, Cognitive Ethnography, and Cognitive Design
    COGS 107A-B-C: Cognitive Neuroscience
    COGS 109, 118A-B: Computational Models of Cognitive Science

  2. Choose two upper-division Cognitive Science electives from the approved electives list for minors.
