Vision and Learning in Humans and Machines: This NSF-sponsored program awards 7-8 fellowships annually. The fellowship includes a $30,000 annual stipend plus the payment of the student's tuition and fees during the academic year. Fellows also receive an equipment allowance and travel subsidy. Provides support for up to three years of formal graduate-level study leading to a masters or doctoral degree. Fellows are selected from countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and Russia (although this may change, so check even if you're not from one of these areas), where the Ford Foundation maintains active overseas programs. U.S. nationals are not eligible, although Fellows may study in the United States. Fellows may enroll in masters or doctoral programs and may pursue any academic discipline or field of study that is consistent with the interests and goals of the Ford Foundation. Subject to the availability of funds, a fellow receives the Javits fellowship annually for up to the lesser of 48 months or the completion of their degree. The fellowship consists of an institutional payment and a stipend. In Fiscal Year 2001, the institutional payment was $11,511 and the maximum stipend was $30,000.
